Worth knowing
Lay it out together
The well, the septic and the power all have to coexist on the same parcel,
and they all have setbacks. The drain field — plus the replacement area code makes you
reserve — has to sit at least 100 feet from any well, including your neighbors'. The tank
has to be at least 50. On a small or oddly shaped lot, that single rule often decides where
everything else can go.
This is the argument for doing it with one company. When the same crew is
planning the well, the drain field and the power trench, the layout works the first
time.
It's also cheaper. Machines on site once instead of three times, and one
trench where the work allows it.
